Gardening...I think I'm addicted

Last night I made our dinner with tons of garden veggies. The highlight was what Sam calls the "salad that should ALWAYS be in the fridge" Cukes(picked before the snake sighting). red pepper, yellow beans(blanched), green onions, cherry tomatoes, avocado, in a lite italian dressing. Well, the comment of the night was when Garrett got up to the table and said, "Mom, I'm so gLLLad(he enunciates his "L's"), we are NOT having zucchini tonight." That got a good laugh out of me. I'm almost even sick of it(not quite) and zucchini is my first true love. We grill the spears and Molly will down 2-3 whole zucchini on her own...but Garrett hasn't quite taken to it like she has. :-)

  1. You go girl! I have missed most of the growing season this year with the move, so I am depended on the little farmers market in our town, good, but not the same. Send Sam out to pick the cukes, slice them thin and add Meyers lemon oil and rice vinegar, Heaven! Keep growing!
    miss you

  2. Wow! I'm totally jealous and impressed. I wish I had that skill...you will have to share your gardening secrets in your spare time! What a great way to get your kids to love veggies!

  3. If I saw snakes in the patch I wouldn't even go in my backyard again!
I look at your post with big envy...you see, I determined that this summer would be my time to successfully grow something. I actually came up with some zucchini miraculously until after the 5th baseball bat sized monster I got sick of the soup and never want to eat it again. Then the plants got a disease and theyre done. The worst part is my heirloom variety of big juicy tomato grew one large beauty. I watched it every day and waited for it to get just the right color until Evan brought to my attention one morning it had been totally dismembered by a large animal. Boo!

I loved it when he got buried, because he would just sit there...it made the beach much more relaxing. :-)
